Autobiography

Posted by maxvm Nov. 2, 2007 @ 11:43 AM EDT

Name: Max van Mesdag

Age: 15

Birthday: 2/11/92

Height: 5'4

Weight: 95lbs

Disposition: Happy

Age 0-7 (Young Child, BUCKINGHAMSHIRE) 1992-1999

I've always had a good life, no reason to be depressed. I have good parents, good income, good health and popularity. I have had my natural share of good and bad luck though, so I'm not perfect. I am also English, Dutch, Zimbabwean and Irish.

If you've taken a look at my height and weight, I've always been too short and thin for my age. I also have a language-processing difficulty, but it is a very small problem. I find it hard to concentrate on one voice when I can hear other sounds, but it is not a learning difficulty. My IQ is 147, so I don't ever struggle at school.

I used to get creepy dreams, not really nightmares but just scary for someone only a few years old. Creatures would hassle me in my sleep, from a giant snake to a lion. It started to annoy me that sleep would be cut short because of them, so I quickly got an idea to stop it. By coincidence, the lion decided to visit me that night. I put my plan to work, "Do you want to be my friend?" I asked. That was my plan, but the lion said yes. Since then I have never seen the lion or had a scary dream since.

Buckinghamshire is in Southwest England. My first school was a Montessori I remember little about. My second school was Eton End, really far away from where we lived. It took over half an hour to get there. I had many friends there and even my height didn't stop me from being a great person. It was great and being so young was such a good feeling.

We had a few rabbits that I really liked. First off was Ian, a brown lop-eared that quickly became tame. Ian could roll balls around the lawn, something that we never became tired of. But one day our gardener left a door open and Ian went off into the big world. We were quite sad about that but it wasn't the end for pets.

We had a Windows 98 on which I enjoyed playing games and surfing the net. But better for me was the Gameboy Color. I had a purple one and I loved it. With the purchase I also got Super Mario deluxe and Wario World 3. My collection expanded a little over the years, but I was too young to ever complete any of the games.

The Nineties was very short for me and I think it was much better than this decade. With no knowledge of global issues, I enjoyed life as something where nothing was bad. The disappointing part is that I spent the night of December the 31st, 1999 in bed trying to get to sleep with fireworks going off. Maybe if I were older at the time I wouldn't miss the Nineties as much.

Age 7-10 (Child, BUCKINGHAMSHIRE) 2000-2003

Into the twenty-first century, I went to a new school. St. George's School Windsor Castle. That's right, the one right by the Queen's castle. This was further away than Eton End, but the journey was only about 25% longer. Eton End only allowed boys to go there until a certain age, so it became an all-girls school from then on. Some of my friends from there went to St. George's as well, which was good moral support to change school.

Again I got many friends and my status was a high rank in popularity. One child, Jack Butler, was jealous and showed that he didn't like me. He wasn't much of a bully, but a bad person nonetheless. But as we grew up he stopped this and started to treat me like everyone else. We did actually become friends, to some extent.

A few crazes popped up in school. There were Pokémon cards, and I got the Silver edition game for my Gameboy. I got very far because I played it almost every night. There were also Magic Cards and Yu-Gi-Oh!, the latter I never got into. And don't forget Beyblade, a long running craze that I actually helped discover. We went to France on a school trip and a several of us found it in a toyshop. I don't remember which one I bought there, but I still have a small set of them lying around.

To replace Ian we got two white lop-ears, Britney and Billy. They had babies on Christmas Eve but we had to sell them because they would be a trouble. Britney died and Billy was given away, so we stopped with rabbits.

If you know what a cockatoo is, then imagine a much smaller version of it. A cockatiel is what you have in your mind. We had two of them, Bobby and Cinny. They were fun to keep and I found them more interesting than rabbits.

Having got rid of the 98 for a Mac, I found a new place to surf the net. Rathergood.com is a completely random site of crazy Flash animations. I enjoyed what else I saw and recommended the site to all my friends at school. A well-known submitter to Newgrounds is Weebl, creator of the looped music video 'Badgers' and the classic series 'Weebl and Bob'. Rathergood led me to this site and for years I have been a Weebl fan.

We also got a house in the Balearic Islands. Menorca is a small island far off the East coast of Spain. It is one of the best places for me to relax and I love to ride my scooter around the area. There was a pool and the sea was only a few minutes away. Menorca really is my haven and to sell it would be a nightmare. I have so many memories there, more than in England.

St George's School Windsor Castle was a Christian school and every morning there was an assembly with a hymn to start with and the Lord's Prayer to end. I didn't understand why religion had to be work, so every day God became less important to me. Soon I felt no meaning in God and stopped believing all together. I noticed flaws in the Bible, so I became an Atheist.

It sounds okay, but the actual school was quite bad. Some of the teachers weren't very nice and the sports were terrible. In autumn we had football and winter was rugby. No type of weather except lightning would stop us from going outside. We had to wear long sleeved shirts that soaked up rain and shorts that did not help keep us warm. In the end I got pneumonia and I had to stay home for two weeks. After three years I had had enough.

Age 10-13 (Pre-teen, BUCKINGHAMSHIRE) 2003-2005

St George's School Windsor Castle became a thing of the past, as I moved to an International School. The American Community School was my new home, and again I was warmly welcomed into the school. I still don't know how I get an air of popularity in school, but I just get it. It could be that I am original and genuine, but I shall let it remain a mystery.

I was happy here and the teachers were nice. Sports was finally good and I could really let my IQ be a good use. The bad thing about this school is the spelling. St George's left me with incredible spelling compared to the people at ACS, even my vocabulary was a little advanced. The discipline I gained from that school left me very quiet though, something that the others noticed. Everyone else talked a lot, and this just lowered my chance to speak. I just got used to keeping my mouth shut and realised that it was fine.

Because this was even further away than St. George's, we decided that we had to move house. I now live in Berkshire and can spend only a few minutes in the car to school. I much prefer it to Buckinghamshire and hope to stay here for years to come.

Autumn 2003 is when I tie in with Newgrounds. A friend introduced me to UGO Flashplayer, another flash portal on the Internet. This place had a few animations that led to Newgrounds, so I spent visits on both of these sites. I spent more time on Flashplayer, not realising that Newgrounds got way more submissions in. I knew nothing about the history of Newgrounds at the time.

School was mostly the same throughout this period of time, but I started a comic phase. Four creatures called Podges went on crazy adventures through Podgeland. Podges are fat aliens that anyone can convert to by using the Podgifier only found on Podgeland. It was all very weird but carefully planned out. I even made a website, which my friends visited to learn about Podgeland. Everyone enjoyed my comics and always watched me draw them.

Age 13-15 (Teen, BERKSHIRE) 2005-2008

The website was fun to keep, but I let it expire because I deleted most of the website. It looked like a shortcut that I accidentally entered, but it also lost all of my data. I still made the comics after that incident, but now they soon became something just stored in my mind. I want to make them into a television programme or at least give them a movie. It was around this time that I became interested in becoming a movie director. I have many more good ideas and I really want to pursue in that career.

Flashplayer became a less frequent visit, while Newgrounds got more hits by me. My visits became daily and soon I made my first account. I really started to get into Newgrounds and started to learn about the site. Then I made another account, then another and a fourth one. Now I have decided to settle on this account and I have planned of how to use it. Before I randomly made accounts and just made them for fun, but that's how I stopped using each one. I am now a Newgrounds fan and even a fanatic.

Another career idea I got was joining/creating a small website team like Newgrounds. I see the fun the staff of ten has, along with big names here that visit the site. It just looks happy and they go to all those conventions. I would have to look into computers though, but a CGI movie director is a though from me and I would have to go down the same path. Oh well, who knows?

Getting inspiration from Newgrounds, I eventually found Adobe Flash CS3 at a bargain price. For £20 I got the whole professional package. Check out my first completed trilogy, here at Newgrounds!

We also got a dog along with the cockatiels. A Yorkshire and Norfolk terrier cross. We named him Tiger and he is even better than the birds. At first I didn't want him in the house, but now I have let him be a companion. While I was on a weeklong school trip, Cinny died. We expected her to die anyway because she was always sneezing. Bobby also moved because he was becoming a pain on his own. Now the house is quiet and I can spend more time enjoying Tiger.

I have never had a girlfriend, as I have never felt the need. I don't see myself marrying anyone I know, so I don't have an urge for a partner. Maybe I will find someone and give a chance at it. Being the height I am for my age, tests have shown that I still need to grow. It's family genes and I should grow to over six feet. Maybe that growth spurt will give me confidence to try. I'll see and update on this autobiography when I have more to add.
